Mirarr Passport, 1998

The Mirarr (previously written ‘Mirrar’) “passport” was issued to visitors upon their arrival to the blockade camp, validating their presence on Mirarr land and acknowledging them as guests of the traditional owners. The passports were issued once visitors went through a formal induction with Mirarr or a representative.

Although the passports were largely symbolic, it confirmed awareness of and agreement to abide by the guidelines the Mirarr made for those invited onto their country while staying there.
