The escarpment overlooking Ranger uranium mine, ‘Djidbidjidbi’ (King Brown Snake Dreaming)—also called Mount Brockman—is a sacred place for Mirarr. The power of this site and the risk that it would be disturbed by the proposed mine formed a big part of Mirarr’s opposition to Ranger. This 2015 painting, by Mark Djandjomerr, depicts Djidbidjidbi.
