This is the story of a new approach to rehabilitating land – of healing country the Bininj way.

The Ranger uranium mine opened in the Northern Territory in 1982 and exported uranium oxide worldwide for 40 years.

Ranger mine is located on the lands of the Mirrar people. It’s surrounded by Kakadu National Park, a world heritage site listed for it’s important natural and cultural values.

In January 2021 mining ceased.

Now in a collaboration between the Gundjeihmi Aboriginal Corporation and the Northern Land Council, traditional owners and other Bininj community members are working with mining company Energy Resources Australian a new approach to rehabilitating the mine site.
